The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson together with some members of the University Management has held series of interactions with the staff of the Estate Organisation, Maintenance and Essential Services Organisation, and University Security Services on 16th, 17th, and 23rd August 2022 at the Great Hall and Maintenance Department Meeting Room.
The purpose of the exercise was to appreciate the staff for their remarkable work in supporting the Management of the University, take feedback, and allow them to make input into the running of the University to help promote teamwork and collaboration.
Briefing the staff, Professor Akosua Dickson commended staff for their dedication and hard work which had culminated in making KNUST the best University in Africa and placing 14th globally in terms of Quality Education, as published by the 2022 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking.
Among the concerns raised by the staff included safety of staff, low staffing, accommodation challenges, allowances, and promotions.
On the issue of accommodation, the Vice-Chancellor assured staff that plans are underway to construct additional accommodation facilities for all ranks of University staff to ease the accommodation challenges.
Regarding low staffing, she further revealed the government’s intent to offer clearance to recruit additional staff for the University. She also assured the staff that their concerns on extra duty allowances and promotions would be given the necessary attention.

Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson in her concluding remarks encouraged all staff to put their hands on the wheels of KNUST and collaboratively work to achieve a common objective.

Col. Richard Cobba-Eshun (Rtd) and the Chairman of the University Security Committee, Professor Dadson Awunyo-Vitor.
